Cervical Spondylosis

Cervical spondylosis is a common condition that affects the cervical spine, which is the upper part of the spine in the neck region. It is caused by the wear and tear of the bones, cartilage, and discs in the cervical spine over time, which can lead to degenerative changes and the development of osteophytes (bone spurs).

Cervical spondylosis can cause a range of symptoms, including neck pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion in the neck. It can also cause pain or numbness that radiates to the arms, shoulders, or upper back. In some cases, cervical spondylosis can compress the spinal cord or nerve roots, leading to more severe symptoms such as weakness or difficulty with coordination.

Risk factors for developing cervical spondylosis include aging, a history of neck injury or trauma, and occupations or activities that involve repetitive neck movements or prolonged sitting or standing. Treatment for cervical spondylosis typically involves a combination of pain management, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots.
